Due to script changes and ommisions the 2nd Unit is totally different to how we started it. In the beginning there were adverts, these were all planned and ready to shoot but due to changes they got completely removed. So the scriptwriters needed to change it and add something else. So in the end we added sob stories to most of the characters to fill out the allotted time space. Because the group C adverts were changed from 'Blow Up TV' to Buck Turbine and Deckard sob stories it meant that I had to re-do my storyboards because I am director of the 2nd Unit. Due to actors dropping out the 2nd Unit has not been filmed but it getting filmed tonight. The actors that dropped out were for the Sci-Fi section so it meant that we had to use another student to play the part of Deckard. Both sections will be filmed tonight and put into the edit tommorow and given to the lead editor for the Multi-Camera show which is now just a week away.
Wish us luck!

What a fortnight!
Well, as I am the editor for Jess Shaw's Sheepy Woolroom production and the deadline was fast approaching I knew that I had to get what Jess had done into the edit. Yesterday I edited all the segments that are completed and put them into the timeline the best I could. I couldn't do it to the storyboards because some parts are currently getting filmed so once they are done I can finish off the edit. However, there is a lack of sound which needs to be dealt with. Jess and the sound person are going to go out and get some sound effects for me like the sound of the wind and footsteps on grass, all the things necessary so it makes it sound like that the sheep are on a farm.
In other Live Project news, my Zombie shoot date is set. The location is sorted. The actors are sorted. A way of making a massive duvet is almost there, I just need to collect some more white bed sheets so if anybody has any available that would be a great help. What I also need is a mass amount of people to be the 'zombies' so if you are available on the 21st of January feel free to come to the square outside of MIMA in Middlesbrough town centre. Oh before I forget I need to film the TV news broadcast which my main 'zombie' is viewing so that will done before the Multi-Camera production.
The Multi-Camera production. What can I say? It hasn't been the most well handled project I have done but we are getting there. Because of actors dropping out left, right and centre it really set us back. Especially the Romance section, because the male actor dropped out me and Andy (Head scriptwriter and Group C director) had to write another genre in. Thus Romance became Chick Flick. I wasn't totally sure about this genre as we had already discarded earlier in the year but it turns out the script we wrote is funny and the timing is spot on so I pleased about that. We have got two of the three actors in the Chick Flick section and it works well. Also in the Horror section my Vladimir actor dropped so we had to get a new actor in who fits the bill and has his own costume, fangs, the lot. Since the last time I wrote a post I believe that Detective Law and Stanley Buttons also dropped out but we got in two new actors really quickly so all the actors are set for the show. The set is almost complete and everything is near enough done, we just need to tie up all the loose ends. The track list for the sound is done I believe so I need to get in the sound booth tomorrow so I know my cues from Andy. I had a quick word with him about it and I pretty much understand were my cues are so I think I will be alright. The music tracks that I need to remember to put in are the Wilhelm scream for Buck Turbine's section and a scientific alarm for Deckard's section. Camera 4 is going to be changed so that is great news because the camera we have now is far too heavy for me to hold for 12 minutes and doesn't look like the rest of the cameras in the studio. Roll on live show!
Also this week I changed my production logo and name, I felt this was for the best because my original name was a too unique (it was a made up word) and this new name has a deeper meaning for me. Hopefully they are better than my previous attempts. Tell me what you think; they are on the side on screen.
All the best for the New Year!

Postponement
Last week the college was closed all week apart from Tuesday because of the snow! This wasn't good! All productions were postponed and now most of the group are playing catch up. I have now planned two Live Projects. One is Jess' which will be filmed during our week off (13th December-17th December) and Andy's which is planned for the 7th of January. My Zombie-like film is all sorted, all we need to do is choose a date to shoot. This is going to be tricky because of the snow because we are filming outside but now it is dying down I think we can get it filmed just before we break up or the first few days coming back after Christmas!
In other news, my Specialism pitch ('The Imagination of Little Tommy Murdoch') was chosen. This means I have to write, direct, animate and edit it all myself which is going to be difficult but I'm going to give it my best shot. I wanted to specialise in Scriptwriting but my other pitches weren't chosen and doing this film will take up a lot of my time so I think it's for the best.

SNOW!!!
AAAARGH! Living in Middlesbrough isn't always the warmest place to live, but the past couple of days has been like living in Switzerland. The snow has been constant and yesterday college was cancelled causing a lot of trouble for the groups. Shoots that were organsised had to be cancelled and the work I was planning on doing had to be postponed.
In lighter news, I want to specialise in scriptwriting. So I have sent my tutors two stories which I have written. Because I want to specialise in this area I need to write three scripts so I'm currently writing a third story. Also, because scriptwriting is only 15 Credits and I need a minimum of 30 Credits, I will have to direct one to get the minimum score.
The two stories I have written are 'The Imagination of Little Tommy Murdoch' and 'Saviour'. Currently I am writing a children's comedy/horror.

R.T.S Aftermath
Oooooo! No award given to the animation segment?!?!
To me that is just out of order, three animations (all from the same university) were nominated for the Animation Award but none of them seemed to win because the R.T.S board didn't think they were up to scratch.

R.T.S
Well, its the Royal Television Society awards tonight and my course are going to it, this year they are based in York. After missing out on last year because of "THE NUMBER 23 PROJECT!" I am looking forward to what they have in store. Im now just waiting for the coach to get here so we can head off to what I expect to be a great night.
In other work related areas, we did a run through of the full first drafted (third draft for my horror segment) script. After finally getting the musical section, we read through the full thing and it seemed to gel well together with some genres relating back to other genres that have already been on. I think that this is a good trick to tie the story together. However, when we got to my section of scripts the time seemed to elapse to quick and when the P.A told us we had six minutes to go. So I think that the scriptwriting team needed to have a quick meeting which will be tomorrow. We had the idea of using a "Life Story" to fill up the time, I think this is a great idea because it gives the characters more depth and relates back to the ending were they are going to voted off like on a talent show.
That's it for now, the bus will be here soon.

Worky Work!
Well, I've got a lot of work on now. So I've been busy doing that which is why my blog looks a little empty. But now I will be doing posts almost every day.
Multi-cam :
First drafts of scripts done (need to type up introduction and ending) / Set design done / Lighting design (almost done) / Sound design (many to choose from).
I have found many actors on Casting Call Pro which I need to type up the details for for the producers and directors. However, it looks as though we have got a good selection of actors who came in for the auditions on the 2nd November.
Wool Room (Live Project):
'Zombie' : Script and treatment done / Storyboard done (needs a little tweaking) / Actors looked at (DECISION!) / I NEED DUVETS!!!
'Crash' : Andy wants a name change! Script done / Prop list done (need to get them from The Wool Room).
'Farmer' : Sheep prototype made (GET WIRE FOR THE SKELETON!) / Treatment done / Designs for farmer and set in process.
Lighting Presentation:
DONE AND DUSTED!
Professional Studies:
Interviews: I was the interviewer for a mock interview which was based around becoming a runner for the BBC, I think I did a pretty good job in this and myself and Karl Keenen had a decent crack at it. I feel that I had the knowledge of the subject topic and Karl knew exactly what the interview board wanted to see in a candidate for the BBC.
I think thats it for now,
Sam
